Teaching Philosophy
As a marketing leader and a working marketing professional I have practiced a style of management and leadership – servant leadership – where leaders serve the people on their team. This philosophy of leadership forms the foundation of my teaching philosophy – where teachers serve their students.
Servant leadership emphasizes helping others to be their best selves. In his book, The Culture Engine, S. Chris Edmonds says everyone has value and is entitled to civility, trust and respect and people can achieve great things when they have a purpose beyond themselves. Servant leaders, or in this case, servant teachers, lead by example by emphasizing service to others. They listen and ask for feedback they use that information to tailor their approach. They guide their people to success and act as mentors. They invest whatever time it takes to educate and inspire their team. And they hold themselves and their people accountable for high standards and quality. These are the tenets to which I aspire as a teacher and a learning partner.
I’m all about turning information into action. The field of marketing includes many techniques and tactics that can be used to achieve a company’s strategic business goals. I’m passionate about marketing and love to teach others about all the wonderful facets of this exciting and ever-changing discipline.
